Privacy Policy
ColorUtil is designed as a focused color workspace. This policy explains what information the application may collect, how that information is used, and the choices available to you.
Last updated: May 8, 2026
Scope
This policy applies to use of the ColorUtil website and related account features. It does not replace any separate written agreement you may have with the site operator, and it should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before production use.
Information We Collect
- Account information, such as username, email address, authentication status, roles, and sign-in records.
- Google sign-in information, such as a verified email address and Google account identifier needed to authenticate your account. ColorUtil does not collect or store your Google password.
- Palette content you create or sync, including palette names, optional descriptions, color values, creation dates, and update dates.
- Local browser data, including palettes saved in IndexedDB and deletion markers saved in localStorage so the application can remember your workspace choices.
- Image files you choose to load for color extraction. Current color extraction runs in your browser; images selected for extraction are not intentionally uploaded for that feature.
- Technical information normally created by web servers and browsers, such as cookies, anti-forgery tokens, IP address, browser type, device information, requested pages, timestamps, and error logs.
How We Use Information
- To create, authenticate, secure, and manage user accounts.
- To save, display, sync, update, and delete palettes across your browser and signed-in account.
- To provide color tools, image color extraction, palette generation, and account palette features.
- To protect the service, troubleshoot errors, prevent misuse, enforce access controls, and maintain application security.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests where required.
Cookies And Local Storage
ColorUtil uses cookies and similar browser storage for essential application functions, including authentication, session management, anti-forgery protection, saved palettes, and sync preferences. Disabling cookies or browser storage may prevent account features, palette sync, or local palette saving from working correctly.
How Information Is Shared
We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers that help operate the application, such as hosting, database, authentication, logging, email, analytics if configured, and Google sign-in. Those providers may process information according to their own terms and privacy practices.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate misuse, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or transfer of business assets.
Retention
Account and synced palette information is kept while your account remains active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Local palettes remain in your browser until you delete them, clear site data, or your browser removes them. Logs and backups may be retained for a limited period according to operational and legal needs.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate for the application, including Google-based authentication controls, anti-forgery protections, role-based access for administrative features, and HTTPS in production. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices And Rights
- You may update account details through account management tools where available.
- You may delete saved palettes from the palette interface.
- You may remove local palettes by clearing browser site data for ColorUtil.
- You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of personal information where applicable law provides those rights.
- Residents of certain jurisdictions, including California, may have additional rights to know, delete, correct, limit certain uses, and opt out of sale or sharing of personal information. ColorUtil does not knowingly sell personal information.
Children
ColorUtil is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact the site operator so appropriate action can be taken.
International Use
If you access ColorUtil from outside the country where the service is operated, your information may be processed in that country or in other locations where service providers operate. Those locations may have different privacy laws than your jurisdiction.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy when the application, service providers, legal requirements, or privacy practices change. The updated date will show when the policy was last revised. Material changes should be reviewed before continued use of the service.
Contact
For privacy requests or questions, contact the ColorUtil site operator. A production deployment should replace this sentence with the correct legal business name, mailing address, privacy email address, and any jurisdiction-specific request methods required by applicable law.
